  Some of them sell them on Ebay to collectors for a quick profit... A simple search for watchtower brings up a ton of hits, and not just for old publications either!

  He also said there'd be no more sexual relations, which distressed me somewhat!

  I mean, if we're gonna be living on earth, and not attain that ultimate spiritual closeness to Christ that the annointed supposedly will, surely we should be entitled to simple pleasure??

  Np Puffsrule, I don't take your comments as an attack

  What i was told was that people wouldn't be perfect immediately, that they will gradually attain that "spiritual perfectness", and that the earth wouldn't be a paradise immediately, that a period of time would elapse during which we, as God's people, would rebuild the earth into a paradise, and teach the resurrected, giving them the choice as to whether they wanted to accept the theocratic government.

  There will thus be a second seperation of people amongst the ressurected and the surviving JWs. The remaining will then be free of all bodily desires etc...

  Please bear in mind what I say aren't necessarily my beliefs, I'm just narrating past discussions with my study conductor and other JWs.

  The paper issue is interesting. However, looking at it from a JW standpoint, they must stupidly believe that God will just plant nice big new trees after armageddon.

  From what I've been taught, after Armaggedon, the Witnesses will still have a duty to preach, as all the resurrected ones will have to be taught God's Will, in order to make the decision as to whether they accept it or not. So in effect the printing work won't end at Armaggedon! I've never come across such a teaching, and was taken aback when I was told this. Can anyone point me to any relevent literature?

  By the looks of things, at that current rate of 8 WTs/second and 2 bibles/sec, won't be long at all before there are more copies of the WT than Bibles! Very disturbing...

  I agree with patricia, and have been doing much of what she mentions since I have been involved in the troof. A trojan horse tactic would be highly effective, especially if aimed at those already harboring doubts, and younger, more worldly members.

  A rotten core has often been the downfall of large organisations, and would definitively help bring about gradual change, if only amongst the R&F.

  this is over a 1000 down over last month, which mirrors other years.. nothing much to report in this month's kingdom ministry, just the usual crap of study more, preach more and attend all the meetings; oh, and give us more money.. dmouse .

  Not sure whether this warranted a new topic, so I'll post it here... I noticed that in the 2001 Yearbook, the number of memorial partakers was 8,661. In 2002 it goes up to 8,730.

  I accept that maybe some couldn't attend due to ill health or whatever other circumstance in 2001, but that's an increase of 69. This might seem liek a bit of a stretch, but would it be possible that the Org may "inflate" this number to buy themselves more time?

  Since most of the remaining annointed must be pretty old now, by accepting younger witnesses, the WT could then argue in the future that as long as some annointed are still left on earth, Armaggedon can't occur.

  Furthermore, considering they do have a history of "fiddling the numbers", how easy would it be to locate and verify whether some annointed actually exist, as no names are provided, just a number?

  Sorry if this seems mildly incoherent in places, it is late, lol!

  this was a question asked me by an elderly brother when i first started attending meetings.

  i took it to mean the meetings and said 'well everyone is very kind and friendly'.

  ask any group of elders -- among themselves they will admit most of the people in the congregation (even in 1st world nations) do not understand the WT articles..

  why -- because their education and reasoning abilities are inadequate for this task

  
  Or that the logic used by the WT writers to prove their point is sooo far-fetched...
